Clothing Designed for Women Over 40 or 50

Pauline’s tops seem to have a generous cut. I usually wear a 1X, but I told Pauline to send me a violet Off the Shoulder top in XL because that was the largest size available. I wanted to see what her purple looked like… and I already have a boatload of black tops.

Well, I was skeptical about the Extra Large covering my tummy without looking tight, but the fit is fabulous! Really… I seldom gush. The Off the Shoulder neckline is more like a boatneck on me because I have big shoulders, but it’s perfect. It would be cute either way.

This Top Fits

The top is fabulous. I judge an outfit by the way people react to me when I’m out and about. And, one guy who I need to see all the time (okay… he’s my doctor) didn’t treat me like an old lady like he usually does. He seemed to show me… what can I say… more respect. He even asked me if I had lost weight.

I have lost three pounds – not enough to make a difference. What he saw was the richness of the color, the slimming drape of the fabric, the perfect cut of the garment, the whole picture.

Pauline has expanded her line.

"I've added two bigger sizes, 1X and 2X. We have eight plus-size designs and Off the Shoulder is one of them. Before Christmas, I am hoping to add some cute dresses and jackets.” (Note: It looks like Pauline has added other colors and designs to her regular-sized tops, as well.)

Pauline’s Story in Her Own Words

“I’m originally from England. I moved to California in 1992. I love it here and it’s my home. I became an American citizen almost 10 years ago.

“Basically, I just got fed up with not finding tops that worked for me and decided to start a business of my own. I don’t have a fashion or design background. I just love clothes. I definitely have a common sense and business background.”

Elegant Tops

Dear Pauline, I would like to add that you also have great taste. Your tops look and feel like high-end designer styles.

The tops are simple enough to wear with jeans and pretty enough to wear to parties. I’ll be ordering the Off the Shoulder top in black, and once I’m sure I have the right size, I’ll be getting more.

Hey girl, I only have one complaint: Make your tops in more colors. I want more.

(Really, I do like her tops.)

I agree you looked skinny in that top and "hot". She should have a men's line for fatties like me too.

I really like her tops. I would gladly buy them but they would be investment pieces for me at this point. Also I'm more of a 3 or 4X so they're probably too small. But I love the idea of supporting another woman's small business so I certainly will pin, share, and promote her products because she is awesome! That is a lovely fabric,,,, I snap up thrift shop garments made from it when I find them. God bless the women who replace their clothes yearly and donate to charity!

Thanks for helping out. I like the idea of helping another boomer chick, especially when the items are made in the US. I'll pass along the idea of adding larger sizes, but I was surprised how generous her sizing is. When she sent me her 1X top just so I could see the material and styling of her tops, I picked the largest size she had at the time (and back then I normally wore a 1X or 2X, so I REALLY didn't think an XL would fit). So, if you ever get a chance to try her largest sizes, you might be surprized. I sure was.

My weight fluxuates according to medications, and I know that right now I could fit into a size large... possibly even a medium... but I ordered an XL because I like the big drapey look right now. Hey, I'm into the Lagenlook, oversized, flowing style... and I like things that feel like pajamas or nightgowns. Who doesn't?

I'll email Pauline with your comment and see what happens. I never buy anything unless it's on sale or I really love it AND I KNOW I'LL WEAR IT FOR YEARS. I've been known to wear the same couple of things everywhere over and over. Sometimes, I go for quality over quantity... but it just depends on the item. There are times when a cheap thriftstore brooch is just the right thing.

Pauline says that she wants to add more plus sizes, but she just can't do it right now. (I'm sure it's a lot of work to start one's own clothing company.)

Also, Pauline is thinking about setting up a website with just plus sizes in the future, but she's so busy with her new business that she's not quite ready yet.

Hi Kay, thank you for sharing my business. I appreciate your support. As time goes by I will ad more sizes. I will say that my sizes are generous in the MicroModal. You might find that the 2X will fit you.
